Macy Idzakovich, 20, a Portsmouth West High School graduate, went to New York City in the summer of 2007 to pursue her acting career. Now, she has landed a role in an upcoming episode of “Law and Order” — not just one role, but two other parts as well.

“The episode revolves around a young girl who is attending art school in the city, and I’m one of the art students,” Macy said. “I actually come back later in the show as one of the lawyers on the courthouse steps and then later, I’m also a pedestrian in one scene.”

Macy said she’s not sure when the episode will run, “either in a couple of days or a couple of weeks,” she said, laughing about the uncertainty of the air date.

“One of the cast members has been ill, and they’ve had to postpone some of the episodes,” she said.

This is Macy’s first TV show, but she appeared in a production of “Godspell” in January and February. She also is working on her master’s degree in musical theatre at The New School in New York City.

With her appearance in “Law and Order,” Macy said she is earning points toward receiving her SAG card — the Screen Actors Guild. She has some other acting jobs in the works, she said, so hopefully, folks around Scioto County will get to see her again on the TV screen.

Macy currently lives on 74th Street in New York City, where she has lived since October.

Life in New York is hectic, she said. “There’s never a dull moment. It seems things always go at a frantic pace.”

She is the daughter of Robert and Shirley Idzakovich of Portsmouth, and has two sisters, Ravan and Ivy.

She said her parents were a little hesitant when she told them she wanted to go to New York after high school graduation, but, she said, “I told them I will do what I have to do to prove that I’m ready to go — wash dishes, wash the car, anything — so they finally let me go.”

“I remember Mom was dropping me off and leaving me for the first time in New York — my dad wasn’t able to go — and she broke down. But I told her everything would be alright,” Macy said.

Watch for Macy on her upcoming TV debut, “sooner rather than later,” she said.
