Jean Campbell, 85
Lois Jean Campbell, 85, of Portsmouth, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at the SOMC - Emergency Room. She was born Aug. 4, 1927, in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late John Edward and Blanche Bertha Blair Scott.
Jean was a Licensed Practical Nurse, having graduated from the Mercy Hospital LPN School where she was the class president. She also was a 1945 graduate of both Portsmouth High School and the Portsmouth Interstate Business College. Jean was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, where she was affectionately known as the “The Cookie Lady”. She was a 50 plus year member of the Order Eastern Star Lodge No. 424 and was an avid fan of baseball and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
In addition to her parents, Jean was also preceded in death July 17, 1995, by her husband, Charles Frederick Campbell, whom she married in Portsmouth March 8, 1952; and by a brother; James Vernon Scott.
She is survived by her son, Grant Scott (Connie Porter) Campbell of Portsmouth; a daughter, Rebecca Katherine Adkins of Wheelersburg; two grandsons, David (Alisha) Adkins and Daniel Adkins; three great-grandchildren, Jordan, Avalyn and Skylynn Adkins; three brothers, Jack (Helen) Scott of Portsmouth, Roy Pat (Marsha) Scott of Sciotoville, and Ray Mike Scott of Portsmouth.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the RALPH F. SCOTT FUNERAL HOME in Portsmouth with Rev. Evan Fisher officiating and interment in the Memorial Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from noon until 3 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour.
Eastern Star services will be conducted on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
