Tim and Jennifer Roth will host “Dessert and a Date” event at Cornerstone United Methodist Church Friday, March 15, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Couples will receive encouragement while partaking in delicious desserts.

Tim Roth, who serves as Senior Pastor at Cornerstone UMC, and his wife Jennifer will open Cornerstone’s doors to married couples and to God.

“The purpose of Dessert and a Date is to offer couples the chance to connect with each other, and to understand that God designed marriage and has a great plan in mind,” Roth said.

Roth said Dessert and a Date events will be offered on a quarterly basis, and will offer a variety of topics for discussion.

“We plan on offering this event quarterly, focusing on topics such as communication, the differences between men and women, sex, finances, the many roles men and women play and family of origin,” Roth said.

Conflict will be the topic of discussion for the event Friday night.

“Our focus will be ‘Love Interrupted,’ in which we will explore how conflict is common in marriage, and offer insight on how to handle it correctly,” Roth said.

The teaching from Tim and Jennifer Roth will focus on how to be free of conflict, but to handle it correctly when it occurs.

“Jenn and I learned this after one week of marriage when we got in a fight in a department store over dress pants. We handled this situation poorly and have been on a journey ever since that day in understanding and growing through our differences,” Roth said.

Dessert and a date also provides an opportunity for couples to fellowship with other couples. It is an informal event, and is free and open all couples seeking encouragement. Friday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Cornerstone in the Welcome Center. Childcare is available. For more information call Cornerstone UMC at 740-353-2548.
