An official with the Ohio Dominican Sports Information Department told the Daily Times Wednesday that Friday’s Division IV Regional Final between South Webster and Lancaster Fairfield Christian will be held at ODU.

It was announced during the second half of Tuesday night’s game between the Jeeps and Notre Dame that a site for the regional final game had not yet been announced. The OHSAA originally announced the site of the game as Ohio Dominican when all of the brackets were released.

“I don’t know why they were making that announcement because we’ve always been scheduled to host this game and that hasn’t changed,” the ODU official said in an email to the Daily Times.

An e-mail sent by the Daily Times to the OHSAA was not replied to at press time. The OHSAA website still listed ODU as the host as of Wednesday evening.

Alternate sites that were being rumored for the game were Ohio University’s Convocation Center and Wellston High School. The Jackson County Times-Journal contacted officials with Wellston City Schools, who denied being contacted by the OHSAA in regards to hosting.

South Webster advanced with a 51-39 semifinal victory over the Titans at The Convo. The Knights defeated Danville 61-48 Tuesday night at Ohio Dominican. Tip is slated for 7:30 p.m. with a trip to the state semifinals at Ohio State’s Jerome Schottenstein Center on the line.

If the Jeeps advance, it will be their first trip to the Final Four since their state championship in 2006.
