Evelyn Helbig, 101

Evelyn A. Helbig, 101, of Portsmouth, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Crystal Care Center. She was born May 8, 1911, in Portsmouth, to the late Henry Helbig and Bertha Hoover Helbig. She was a retired bookkeeper of Schlisler’s Meat Market, and a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Ellison Helbig; and two sisters, Mildred Helbig and Margaret Cheyney.

Evelyn is survived by two nephews, Harold Cheyney of Columbus, Ohio, and Winston Cheyney of Boise, Idaho; and one niece, Barbara Cheyney of Waverly, Washington.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m.Monday, March 11, 2013, at Cornerstone United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at F.C. Daehler Mortuary Company in Portsmouth.
