Richard Meeker, 82
Richard D. Meeker, 82, of West Portsmouth, died Thursday, March 7, 2013, at SOMC Hospice. He was born Sept. 12, 1930, in Portsmouth to the late Burt Meeker and Melissa Ann Evans Meeker. He was a Navy veteran, a retired iron worker and a member of Nauvoo Masonic Lodge #769.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Oscar, Amos, Edward, Charles, James and Norman Meeker.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Frasher Meeker; and one son, Richard Matthew “Matt” (Kristie) Meeker of Lucasville; and three grandchildren, Zachary Meeker, Jonathan Meeker, and Brandon Jewett.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2013, at F.C. Daehler Mortuary Company in Portsmouth with James Osborne officiating. Interment will be in McKendree Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Honor Detail of James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Daehlers.
