Mike Phipps, 74

Mike Phipps, 74, of Lucasville, died Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Southern Ohio Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 28, 1938, in Lucasville, a son of the late Lester and Birtie Jenkins Phipps.

Mike was a retired Machinist for Royal Manufacturing in Grand Prairie, Texas, and a member of the Pine Grove United Baptist Church.

He is survived by two sons, Mike Phipps Jr., of Lucasville, and Byron Phipps of Grand Prairie, Texas; two daughters, Georgia Jean Phipps and Dana Louise Phipps both of Portsmouth; 11 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three brothers, Freddie Phipps of Grand Prairie, Texas, Scott Phipps, and Darrell Phipps both of Portsmouth; and three sisters, Felsie Booth, Margie Cox, and Judy Gee, all of Marion, Ohio.

He was also preceded in death by one grandson; five brothers, Alfred, Homer, Benny, Lester Jr., and Leslie Phipps.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon, Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at the Big Run United Baptist Church with Arvil Murray Jr. and Corbet Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Big Run Cemetery. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville and Tuesday an hour before the funeral at the church.
