The featured speakers for this years Scioto County Republican Party Lincoln Day dinner set for March 19 will be Attorney General Mike DeWine and former Congressman and current State Central Committeeman Bob McEwen.

The event will take place at the SOMC Friends Center with a social hour at 6 p.m. and the program starting at 6:30 p.m.

According to Scioto County Republican Party Communications Co-Chair Bryan Davis, DeWine will speak prior to the dinner, which will begin at 7 p.m. with McEwen speaking afterwards.

“DeWine took office as Ohio’s 50th attorney general on Jan. 10, 2011, and serves as Ohio’s chief law officer. DeWine is interested in his office providing top-notch criminal investigation, rooting out public corruption, providing law enforcement training services and helping to create a legal climate in Ohio that encourages business to invest in the state and create jobs. Further, he has devoted resources and staff to fighting Ohio’s prescription drug abuse problem, increased the number of criminal prosecutions in consumer fraud cases and focused on key issues affecting children and teens, including sex trafficking, child abuse, missing children and cyber-bullying,” Davis said. “Mr. McEwen appears frequently on such network programming as CNN’s Crossfire, The Today Show, Good Morning America, and Larry King Live. His writings have appeared in numerous national publications. An outstanding communicator, Bob McEwen is a leading advocate for pro-family interests and free-market economics. As such, he maintains an active international speaking schedule.”

As a part of the event, there will be a silent auction in which proceeds will go to funding various Scioto County Republican Party activities and functions throughout the year.

“This years Lincoln Day Banquet is a milestone for our party as it will be our 85th consecutive banquet. The Lincoln Day banquet and silent auction is our single largest fundraiser of the year. It is a great opportunity for everyone in the local party to come together at one time and in one place. It is also a time to rally and prepare for office races that are upcoming. This years event is going to be great,” Davis said.

Tickets for the event are $25 each and can be purchased by calling Rodney Barnett at 740-778-2110, GOP county headquarters at 740-355-7171 or by contacting any member of the Scioto County Republican Central Committee.
