Don Ellis, 81

Donald Enos Ellis, 81, of McDermott, died Monday, March 4, 2013, at SOMC Hospice.

He was born March 20, 1931, in McDermott, a son of the late Charles and Lula Mae Kennard Ellis.

Don was a retired mechanic from Dayton Walther Corp., Pastor of Stoney Run Freewill Baptist Church, and a US Navy Veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Lute Ellis, whom he married Sept. 1, 1951; three sons, Sam (Mary) Ellis of Lucasville, Danny (Sherry) Ellis of McDermott, and David (Nancy) Ellis of Rosemount; four daughters, Connie (David) Cooper of West Portsmouth, Bonnie (Allen) Hodge of Bethel, Julie (Wes) Culver of West Portsmouth, and Leila (Ed) Fuller of McDermott; 26 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; three brothers Frank Ellis of West Manchester, Carl Ellis of Dayton, and Roger Ellis of Rarden; three sisters Norma Beverly of Dayton, Joyce Kelly of Dayton, and Jane Duncan of Portsmouth;

He was also preceded in death by three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and three brothers, Chuck, Floyd, and Gene Ellis.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon, Friday, March 8, 2013, at the Stoney Run Freewill Baptist Church with Craddock Frye and Roger Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Rushtown Cemetery where military graveside rites will be performed by the William A. Baker and James Irwin Posts of the American Legion. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville and from 11 a.m. to noon Friday at the church.
