A McDermott man faces a laundry list of charges after reportedly leaving the scene of a crash that injured several people including three 7-year-olds.

William Passmore, 38, is charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence, driving with a suspended license, four counts of aggravated vehicular assault, three counts of child endangerment and leaving the scene of an accident. Passmore was also wanted on two warrants from Adams County.

The crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. Saturday on Ohio 125 at Odle Creek Road in West Portsmouth. According to Lt. Karla Taulbee, the commander of the Portsmouth Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Passmore’s vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed, went out of control, hit an embankment and flipped over.

“He’s charged with leaving the scene because he took off and we caught him down the road later,” Taulbee said.

Passengers in that vehicle included Kristina Abbott, 27, of West Portsmouth; Gina Abbott, 7, and Haley Abbott, 7, both of McDermott, and Madison Furnier, 7, of West Portsmouth. Madison Furnier was ejected from the vehicle and was flown to Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia, while the other four involved in the crash were all transported to Southern Ohio Medical Center.
