Three people arrested in December when authorities confiscated over $5,000 in drugs and $1,000 cash have all been indicted by a Scioto County grand jury.

Charged with trafficking and possession of drugs - heroin, trafficking and possession of drugs - cocaine, tampering with evidence and possession of criminal tools with forfeiture specification, were Chanel L. Bufkin, 26; Jermer A. Howard, 24, and Lapercy D. Allen, 33, all of Toledo.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, troopers stopped a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica on U.S. 23 South, near Lucasville, at about 9:12 p.m. on Dec. 26, 2012 for a registration violation. After approaching the vehicle, the trooper detected an odor of marijuana coming from the passenger compartment of the vehicle. During a pat down of one of the occupants, the trooper discovered a baggie containing 13 grams of marijuana.

Bufkin, the driver of the vehicle, advised the trooper that she was concealing contraband on her person and voluntarily forfeited 15 grams of cocaine and 23 grams of heroin. The combined contraband had a street value of about $5,015. Troopers also seized about $1,000 in cash.

Bufkin and her passengers — Howard and Allen, were all taken to the Scioto County Jail.

If these people have Medicaid, watch out! The Counseling Center will be all over them to make their thousands of dollars off their treatment.

I hope they stop every car traveling from out of state and from Toledo and Dayton (for starters) traveling Rt 23. I'm sick of people bringing drugs into Scioto County and destroying our young people. I don't care what race they are-get the drugs off our streets.

How does everyone the OSP stop they smell weed coming from the passenger side. And you would think that it is racial profiling when every African-American gets stopped just outside Lucasville.
