Kathryn Burchett, 91

Kathryn Marie Burchett, 91, of Lucasville, went to meet her Lord and Savior Feb. 21, 2013, at SOMC Hospice Center. She was a charter member of Stockdale Baptist Church where she faithfully served the Lord and praised Him in song and testimony.

The daughter of the late Hubert and Dolly Estep, she was born on Nov. 1, 1921, in Pike County. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Charles D. Burchett, as well as parents Hubert and Dolly Estep. Kathryn was also preceded in death by three brothers, Cecil, Chris, and Kenneth Estep and her granddaughter Stephanie Knipp.

Kathryn is survived by three children. Larry (Vicki) Burchett of Columbus, Connie Dawson of Lucasville, and Jeff (Dawn) Burchett of Portsmouth. One brother, Chester Estep, and three sisters Helen Barnett, Doris Bobst and Peggy Sowards all of Beaver.

Kathryn was also a devoted grandmother to nine grandchildren: Deana (Jamie) Collins, Rick Burchett, Sabrina (Mark) Shonkwiler, Shelly (P.J.) Fitch, Nathan Burchett, Megan Burchett, Hayley Burchett, Sydney Burchett and Stephanie Whitehead. Also, 13 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

She was happiest when she was in her kitchen baking pies or cooking Sunday dinner for her family. As a former cook at Stockdale Elementary, Kathryn enjoyed serving others. She will be missed by all her family, friends, and church family. Kathryn left a Christian testimony for all to follow. Her heart’s desire was for her family and friends to be reunited with her again within the gates of heaven.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at Stockdale Baptist Church in Stockdale with Pastor Rick Evans officiating. Burial will be at Owl Creek Cemetery. Friends may call at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Online condolences may be sent to www.edafh.com.
