Jake Keen, 73 Jake Lee (Jay) Keen, 73, of Garrison, Ky., passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, in Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio. He was born Dec. 5, 1939, in Welch, W. Va., a son of the late Jesse and Lillie Jane Rose Keen.

Jake Keen, 73

Jake Lee (Jay) Keen, 73, of Garrison, Ky., passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, in Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio.

He was born Dec. 5, 1939, in Welch, W. Va., a son of the late Jesse and Lillie Jane Rose Keen.

Jay was a member of Grace Independent Baptist Church and was a retired truck driver. He loved NASCAR, going to car races, horses, visiting at the restaurant with his friends, and spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Jay was preceded in death by one grandson, Keith Jake Salyers; one brother, George Keen; and one sister, Sue Swafford.

Jay is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Bonnie Bentley Keen; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sharon and Keith Salyers of South Shore, Kentucky, Stephanie Keen of Dublin, Ohio, and Sheryl and Keith Gilbert of South Shore, Ky.; four grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Salyers, Kirk David Gilbert, Tyler Seth Salyers, and Skylar Jayden Gilbert; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Joe Keen of Ohio and Roby and Ina Keen of West Virginia; and three sisters and a brother-in-law, Lois Woods of West Virginia, and Ella Sigmond and Agnes and Bill Lewis, all of Ohio. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel in Garrison, Ky., with Brother Charles Green officiating. Burial will follow in the Soldier Cemetery in Garrison.

Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, and until the service hour on Thursday at Globe Family Funeral Chapel, 103 Dudley Avenue, Garrison, Ky. 41141.

Josh Grayson, Russell Barnett, Keith Salyers, Keith Gilbert, Parnell Johnson, Richard Bloomfield, Steve Johnson, Marty Barnett, Dean Christian, P. K. Rangaswami, and Barry R. Reeder, Sr. will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Kirk David Gilbert and Tyler Seth Salyers.
