Fish Fry at St. Peter’s Parish Hall

The Knights of Columbus of St. Peter and St. Monica parishes are inviting the public and parish members to their annual Lenten Fish Fry, continuing each Friday through March 22. The Fish Fry will be served at St. Peter’s Parish hall located at 2167 Lick Run Lyra Rd. Wheelersburg, OH.

Meals and take-outs will be served from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. each week. Meals will include fried or baked fish, slaw, freshly made French Fries, roll or bun and a drink at a cost of $8 for adults, $4 for children under 12, with children under three years free. The parish’s Lady Guild will provide a variety of desserts for a small additional charge.

Memorial for Angela Marie Vallance

A memorial service for Angela Marie Vallance will be held Sunday, Feb. 17 at Christ Sanctuary Church in Sciotoville.

Those in attendance will write biblical verses and personal messages to Vallance on helium-filled balloons and release them skyward.

The event is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. Sunday at Sanctuary Church in Sciotoville.

Clothing giveaway

There will be a clothing giveaway Saturday, Feb. 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Beech Fork Church, 1847 State Route 348 in Otway.

Nice winter and summer clothing for the whole family will be given away at the Heritage Hall Building.

Lenten Bible Study at First Presbyterian

Pastor Stan Webster (First Presbyterian Church and Second Presbyterian Church) is offering a Lenten Bible Study, “How Luke Speaks to the Christian Life.” The group will read the entire gospel of Luke and, for five Sunday evenings in a row, share insights from the gospel that strengthen our walk with Christ. Please join us in the lounge at First Presbyterian from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 17 and 24, and March 3, 10 and 17.

Christ Brethren Church

Christ Brethren Church 5877 St. Rt. 139 will be holding services on Sunday Feb. 17 starting with morning service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday evening service at 7 p.m. A Wednesday evening service will be held at 7 p.m.

First Church of Christ

The ladies of the First Church of Christ, 1224 Dogwood Ridge Road, Wheelersburg, will meet for Bible study at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, at the church annex.

Members and guest of COLTS will have their monthly luncheon and meeting at noon Tuesday, Feb. 19, at Ponderosa Steakhouse in Wheelersburg.

Helping Hands, the ladies group, will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at the church annex. Brenda Wickham will be the hostess.

McDermott United Methodist Church

McDermott United Methodist Church will host a dinner for Dave Ballengee, who was recently diagnosed with A.L.S./Lou Gehrig’s disease. The dinner will be held Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The menu will include salad, bread, dessert, beans and cornbread, hot dogs and sauce. There will also be a pie and cake walk, as well as baked goods available to purchase. The cost per meal is $6.

Swauger Valley Free Will Baptist Church

Swauger Valley Free Will Baptist Church would like to invite all to come and join us Sunday, Feb. 17, to hear Evangelist Billy Fields. Brother Billy will be singing and preaching both the 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. services.

Also, on Sunday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m. we will be hosting a special youth service. Swauger Valley FWB Teens will be performing their drama skits along with special singing by Jenni LeBrun. All are invited.
