Geneva Frye, 88
Geneva Davis Frye, 88, of West Portsmouth, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at SOMC Hospice. She was born Dec. 9, 1924, in Firebrick, Ky., to the late Emery Everett and Dora Bailey Davis. She moved to Ohio in the early 1930’s and attended Friendship School and Washington High School, (Portsmouth West). She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post # 471. She married H. Donald Frye of the Stoney Run Community on Feb. 3, 1945, who preceded her in death. Along with her parents and husband, Geneva was preceded in death by three brothers Roy, Ermal and Earl Davis, five sisters; Ruth Conley, Nola Martin, Merle Barrett Anna Belle Piatt and Martha McCoy.
Geneva is survived by her son Don “Sonny”(Patty) Frye, three daughters; Sheila Burchett Canterbury, Reda Eichenlaub and Tennie Lee (Randy) Dials all of West Portsmouth, 14 grandchildren; Steven Hayslip, Jason Burchett, Jeremy Burchett, Jerrod Burchett, Joy Lynn Tupper, Teri Long, Rachel Dials, Candy Jo Martin, Robbie Frye, Timmy Frye, David Dials, Dustin Mayhew, Josh Mayhew and Mardy Smith, 22 great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren, two sisters; Mary Adams and Bonnie Shepherd both of New Boston, two brothers-in-law Louis Frye and Craddock Frye both of West Portsmouth.
Funeral services will be at noon Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Jason Coriell officiating and interment in Worley’s Run Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and one hour prior to the service on Friday. The family wishes to thank Brent Munn, Kelly Campbell, Sue McNeer and Jason Coriell of SOMC Hospice for their wonderful care and also ask that all donations be made to SOMC Hospice in Geneva’s name.
