Peighton Williams’ jumper at the free throw line during the third quarter of Saturday’s 56-28 loss at Logan set the new Portsmouth single-season scoring record at 438 points.

The sophomore passed Tonya McKenzie’s record of 435 points during the 2003-2004 campaign. Williams led the Trojans with 11 points in the afternoon contest. It’s the second major record Williams holds as last year, she set the school’s single-game mark with 42 points against Chillicothe Huntington.

Portsmouth starts off tournament action Monday against West in a Division III Southeast Sectional Semifinal at Valley. The winner of the contest will take on second-seeded Wheelersburg in Saturday’s championship.
