Travis Diles, 79
Travis Dean Diles, 79, of Lucasville, passed away Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at the SOMC Hospice Center. He was born Jan. 23, 1934, in Portsmouth, a son of the late Curtis and Lena Belford Diles, Sr.
Travis was a retired engineer from the Norfolk Southern Railway Company after 25 years of service, and he was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He attended Coles Boulevard Church of God, and he was a Navy veteran. Travis also enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nancy Carolyn Coe Diles, whom he married July 6, 1957, in Portsmouth. Also surviving are his daughter, Dana (Elmer) Gregory of Lucasville; three brothers, Curtis (Inez) Diles, Jr. of Huber Heights, Paul (Sarah) Diles of Sarasota, Fla., and Alva “Sonny” (Jean) Diles of Wheelersburg; two sisters, Delores Walker of Minford, and Sonja (Bill) Rice of Reynoldsburg; a grandson, P.J. (Sheena) Gregory of Minford; and a great-grandson, Brycen Andrew Gregory.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Bryan Diles; a daughter, Kelly Diles; two brothers, Jimmy and Don Diles; and three sisters, Lorraine Traber, Susie Potts and Edna Stiltner.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the RALPH F. SCOTT FUNERAL HOME in Portsmouth with Dr. Greg Hudson and Pastor Chad Benner officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park. Military graveside services will be conducted by the James Dickey Post Honor Detail.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m., and Friday from 10 to 11 a.m.
