Elizabeth Ann Edwards, of Washington D.C., passed away on Jan. 22, 2013, after a long battle with cancer, in her home surrounded by loved ones. Born on April 30, 1953, in Portsmouth, Ohio, Ms. Edwards is the daughter of the late Gilbert and Virginia (nee Johnson) Edwards. Ms. Edwards is survived by her husband, Mark Conheady. She is also predeceased by her brother, Brian of Portsmouth. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Marianne Edwards (Brian) of Ashland, Ky. cousins Joseph Edwards and Sylvia Ledford, Aunt and Uncle; Lillian and Warren Edwards of Franklin, Ohio, a niece Anna Cheala Edwards of Portsmouth and cousin Penni Lane of Nashville Tenn. Additionally, she is survived by an extensive and adoring chosen family across the globe.

Ms. Edwards was a graduate of Portsmouth High School, Ohio State University, Lone Mountain College in San Francisco, and The School for International Training in Brattleboro, Vt.

Ms. Edwards had a wide-ranging and diverse professional life including serving as a paralegal for Pacific Gas and Electric in San Francisco, Calif., a Peace Corps Volunteer in Nepal for four years; Teacher of English to Speakers of Other Languages in Japan, India, Thailand, Finland, Egypt, Italy, and finally at the School for International Training in Brattleboro, Vt; before moving to Washington and working as an Events Online Planner at the American Postal Workers’ Union, where she leaves many friends.

Ms. Edwards’ extraordinary life will be celebrated in gatherings in Wash. D.C. and Portsmouth, Ohio. A memorial celebration for Ms Edwards, was held Feb. 1 in Washington, and Feb 7, 1 p.m. at Memorial Burial Park Chapel, Wheelersburg and a luncheon, 2:30 p.m .at Market Street Café, Portsmouth.
