Jewel Greeson, 88

Willie Jewel Greeson, 88, of Portsmouth, a longtime Palmetto, Ga. resident, passed away Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at Southern Ohio Medical Center. She was born Jan. 19, 1925, in Tuscaloosa, Ala., a daughter of the late William Dayton and Jonnie Eunice Poore Kirkley.

Jewel was a professional artist, having formerly worked for Olan Mills Studios. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Greeson, whom she married in Atlanta, Ga.

Surviving are her son, J. Rodney Stebel of Gulf Shores, Ala.; three daughters, Diane Gullett of Blue Creek, Sharon Cassidy of West Portsmouth, and Debbie Bossart of Portsmouth; a brother, Don (Sandra) Kirkley of Fayetteville, Ga.; two sisters, Geraldine Hoppe of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Sarah Ray of Molena, Ga.; five grandchildren, Shane Shope, Brandon Shope, Heather Davis, James Kalb and Chelsea Stebel; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Francis Fairbanks.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with internment in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of the RALPH F. SCOTT FUNERAL HOME in Portsmouth.
