Marjorie Carmickle, 85

Marjorie Carmickle, 85, a loving mother and grandmother, and a lifelong resident of Lucasville passed away, Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, in Burleson, Texas at the Community Hospice House of Texas. She suffered a stroke and lost her battle with heart disease. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on Dec. 31, 1927, to William Thomas and Amanda Jane (Buckler) Mathews. Marjorie was married to her beloved husband of 62 years, Earl Louis Carmickle on Sept. 13, 1945, in Greenup, Ky.

Marjorie was a loving wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She is survived by one sister, Thelma (Jack) Sparks of Springfield, Ohio, and three daughters, Betty Jane (Ronald) Duwe of Corsicana, Texas, Jeannette (George) Walsh of Mansfield, Texas, and Donna (David) Parker of Dublin, Ohio; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, many family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Earl Louis Carmickle, two sons Larry Wayne Carmickle and Jerry Louis Carmickle, one brother, Eugene Mathews three sisters, Janet Schramm, Betty Lou Tucker and Norma Jean Masters.

Marjorie will be missed and never forgotten for her love and service to others. She loved basking in the pleasant warm morning sun on her front porch swing. She enjoyed the country living environment. She was a longtime fan of Bluegrass and Celtic music. An etched wonderful memory, for all who knew her was kicking up dust while clog dancing to a favorite Bluegrass song. She loved reading books and studying her scriptures. She had many God given, self-taught talents, making beautiful colorful quilts, and beautiful crochet craft items. She shared her talents with her children, grandchildren and great grand-children. She always had a welcome open door to family, friends and those in need. She was known for her wonderful homemade breads, pies, cakes and candy. No matter how many visitors, she was able to set an elaborate and abundant feast on her table. A Memorial in the celebration of her life will be held at a later date by McKinley Funeral Home of Lucasville, Ohio. The graveside service will follow; she will be laid to rest beside her husband at Jacob’s Cemetery.
