Ida Louise “Gran” (Carr) Plummer, 95 of West Portsmouth, went home to God Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at SOMC Hospice.

Ida was born Dec. 16, 1917, to Willard and Maggie Carr of Greenup, Ky. Ida retired from Mercy Hospital as a dietitian. She prepared meals for everyone her entire life and helped raise all her own children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even her great great grandchildren.

Ida was a member of the First Church of God on Brown St. in Portsmouth, Ohio. She was a devout Christian. Ida was also the most loving, caring, selfless, giving person that ever graced the presence of those she encountered. She touched the hearts of all and changed the lives of many.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; three sons Donald, Gary, and Denny, her daughter-in-laws Pat and Carolyn, her sister Elizabeth (Carr) Adkins, brothers Ralph and Dennis Carr.

Ida left behind three sisters Thelma Arthurs, Mable Charles, Betty Campbell; daughter-in-law, Patty Plummer; seven grandchildren Debra (John)Petrey, Mike Plummer, Danny (Rhonda)Plummer, Chris (Eva)Plummer, Angie (Donnie) Sheets, Cheryl Plummer, Tammy Plummer; seven great-grandchildren Shannen (Robert) Bailey, Melissa (Shannon) Lykins, Jessica Plummer, Josh Sheets, John Petrey, Jonathon Plummer , and Nicole Plummer; and four very special great-great-grandchildren Zane and Kaleb Delozier, Braeden and Josie Bailey.

The surviving family will miss her sassy personality, loving touch, kind words, famous chicken dumplings, legendary beef and noodles, and magical Italian wedding cake.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with interment to follow in Siloam Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday, at the funeral home from noon to 2 p.m. Condolences may be sent to www.rogerwdavisfuneralhome.com.
