West shocks Valley 68-66, makes SOC II tighter

A trio West players were in double figures Tuesday night as the host Senators defeated Valley 68-66 and made the race for the SOC II a game closer.

Michael Hafer led the way with a double-double, finishing with 17 points and 11 rebounds. JB Travis had 16 and Josh Bolton added a dozen in the win. Chris Flowers paced the Indians with a game-high 22 while Hayden Dunn had 15 and Ethan Clark-Holbrook with 12.

West travels to Northwest Friday. Valley welcomes Oak Hill as the Indians finish the regular season with three out of their final four at home.

Minford 80, Northwest 45

Of the 10 players for Minford to crack the scoring column, three were in double-digits as the Falcons left McDermott Tuesday with an 80-45 SOC II win over Northwest.

Jared McCray led the victors with 17 points, Austin McBee had 16 and Brandon Rowe with 12. Drew Scarberry led all scorers with 22 points and Marcus Potter had 10.

Minford hosts Wheelersburg Friday. Northwest will entertain West.

Eastern is two games from clinching at least a share of the SOC I title after the Eagles connected on 11 3-pointers to defeat visiting SOC I foe Symmes Valley 81-67.

Double-double machine Tavares Pickett finished with a game-high 23 points and 13 rebounds. Chad Lands had 22 points and nine assists, Colton Lightle finished with 14 points and Josh Thacker chipped in with a dozen in the win.

Clayton Tony and Tyler Rowe each had 21 for the Vikings while Austin Baldwin and DJ Miller each had 10. Eastern goes to East Friday night and Symmes Valley welcomes New Boston.

During Justin Crager’s 25 point-night to lead all scorers Tuesday night, he reached the 1,000-point mark for his career as he helped host East defeat Clay 73-48 in SOC I action.

Tyler Bradford had 22 points while Patrick Bias finished with 15 points and nine rebounds to help the cause for the Tartans. Michael Schmidt (14 points) and Jacob Crosier (10) were the high scorers for the Panthers.

East will try to make the SOC I race closer Friday when Eastern comes into town. Clay returns to Rosemount to face Green.
