Tickets for The Ohio River Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross Dancing With Our Stars fundraising event in March were scheduled to go on sale Monday. According to event organizers, by the time Monday rolled around, a waiting list of those interested in tickets had been created.

Vicky Hatcher, event coordinator said the current waiting list has about a dozen names on it.

“Everyone can still vote for their favorite dancers. If they really want to support the event, they can go online and vote on their star,” Hatcher said. “People can still call the Red Cross office to have their name put on the waiting list if tickets become available.”

She said tickets will become available if people cancel their reservations for the event. Tickets are being sold by reservation only.

The local stars participating in this years event include, Jason Hanley, Owner of Party Pros, Marty Redden, Fire Safety/Emergency Management Manager at USEC, Elizabeth Blevins, Director of Communications for Shawnee State University, Barb Borden-Gibson, Project Director of the Scioto County WIC Program/Registered Dietician, Wendi Waugh, Administrative Director of Southern Ohio Medical Center Cancer Services and Community Health and Wellness.

Elizabeth Scott, Community Relations, Fluor-B&W Portsmouth, Jeremy Burnside, Attorney, Clyde Fenton, Optometrist/Band Leader, Nathan Bennington, DO, Diagnostic Radiologist SOMC and Amy Hassel, Owner/Stylist Gabby’s Grand Salon.

“Each of the stars will be helping to raise money for the event. How they do that is by votes, we need your support to help them be the winner of the trophy,” Hatcher said. “Each vote is in the form of a dollar that will be donated to the local chapter. You can also vote for your favorite star online. You can stop in at the Red Cross office on Robinson Ave. and cast your vote or you can support some of the stars individual fundraising activities.”

The event will take place March 22 at the SOMC Friends Center starting at 6 p.m. with gourmet Hors d’oeuvers with the show will beginning at 7:30 p.m.
