Esther Strehle, 89
Esther Ruth Strehle, 89, of Portsmouth, passed away Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Hill View Health Care. She was born Sept. 22, 1923, in Powellsville, a daughter of the late George and Laura Catherine Pilch Strehle.
Esther was a member of First Lutheran Church and was a 1941 graduate of Green High School. She was a lovely lady who was a gifted seamstress and cook.
Esther is survived by two sisters-in-law, Ann Strehle and Beulah Strehle, both of Portsmouth; and several cousins.
Also preceding her in death were five brothers, Walter, Edwin, Paul, John and Richard Strehle; and two sisters, Anna Kathryn Webb and Mary Elizabeth Turner.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John Lutheran Cemetery with Rev. Richard North officiating. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at the Hill View Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of the RALPH F. SCOTT FUNERAL HOME in Portsmouth.
