Ruth Duncan, 81

Ruth Duncan, 81, of Rubyville, went to be with Her Lord on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at SOMC Hospice Center.

She was born April 12, 1931, in New Boston; a daughter of the late Orphus and Edna Lawson Hatton. She is a charter member of Rubyville Community Church, a former Williams Shoe Factory employee having worked in the fitting dept. and worked for 25 years as a cafateria manager and cook with Clay Schools.

She is survived by her husband, Homer Duncan whom she married on May 28, 1954, in New Boston; two daughters, Penny Light and husband David of Hilliard, Sharon Lauderback and husband Ralph of Thaxton, VA.; four grandchildren, David (Ashley) Light, Amy, Jonathan and Sarah Light and her special lifelong friend, Ruth Ann Evans.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Ralph Hatton and three sisters, Mae Turner, Babe Clevenger and Dorothy Hatton.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Bonzo and everyone at Hospice. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday Jan. 23, 2013, at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston with Pastor Calvin Ray Evans officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at D.W.
