Lightle’s jumper gives Eagles 62-60 win, lead in SOC I

Colton Lightle’s jumper with 2.7 seconds left in regulation Friday gave visiting Eastern a 62-60 win over Notre Dame and the lead in the SOC I.

It was a night where history for the Eagles took place as Chad Lands reached the 1,000-point mark for his career with a 3-pointer with 3:52 left in the second quarter. Tavares Picket led Eastern with 23 points while Lands had 17 and Lightle finished with a dozen.

On the other end of the floor, JP Kayser went off for 31 points in the loss. Kevin Lewis added 15 for the Titans.

The Eagles welcome New Boston into Beaver Tuesday. Notre Dame is at East.

Western 51, Clay 44

Visiting Western rallied from a 36-32 third quarter hole to take a 51-44 SOC I win at Clay.

Nick Shanks led all scorers with 17 points while teammates Dakota Garrett and Ethan Riggs added 15 and 13 respectively. Eldin Sarajlic led the Panthers with 13 points, Michael Schmidt and Mason Pelphrey each had 10.

Clay is a part of a four-game event with its girls counterparts at Rock Hill. The Indians welcome Green Tuesday.

Symmes Valley 47, East 38

Austin Baldwin’s 15 points and DJ Miller’s 10 paced visiting Symmes Valley to a 47-38 triumph over SOC I foe East.

Justin Crager tied Baldwin for the game-high lead in scoring while Tyler Bradford had 11 in the loss. Crager grabbed nine rebounds while teammate Patrick Bias had 11.

The Tartans go Saturday to Ironton St. Joseph. The Vikings welcome Lawrence County foe Coal Grove.

The Daily Times also learned the East-Green rescheduled date is set for Feb. 12 in Franklin Furnace.

Jean Paul White split a pair of free throws with 2.4 seconds left and Waverly escaped with a 44-43 SOC II road win at Wheelersburg.

White had a team-high 17 points and teammate Eric Rinehart finished with 13. Dylan Miller paced the Pirates with a game-high 23.

The Tigers go to Minford Tuesday. Wheelersburg is at West.

Levi Cook had 19 points and was one of three South Webster players in double figures in a 63-41 SOC II road win over Northwest.

Andrew Salisbury had 18 and Seth Goddard added 14 for the Jeeps. Cory Burnworth and Drew Scarberry each had 11 to lead the Mohawks.

South Webster finally returns home Tuesday to play Oak Hill. Northwest is at Valley.

Host and Division III-ranked Oak Hill proved to be too much for West Friday in a 64-53 decision in favor of the Oaks.

Luke Hammond led all scorers with 27 and Garrin Stiltner added 11 in the win. Zach Bolton paced the Senators with 16.

West welcomes Wheelersburg Tuesday. Oak Hill is at South Webster.

Beau Justice led all scorers with 25 points, Trent Arey finished with 23 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists while Matthew McAdow added 16 points. Peebles hosts North Adams Tuesday.
