Pelphrey’s heroics give ‘Streaks 40-38 win

Aleah Pelphrey’s one-hander with a second left in regulation Thursday gave host Piketon a 40-38 SVC victory Thursday over Paint Valley.

Pelphrey finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds while Kalen Jenkins had 10 and seven. Ashlee Lawhorn led all scorers with 15 in the win.

The Redstreaks host Eastern Saturday afternoon.

Notre Dame 73, Green 38

With many of its starters resting in the third and fourth quarters, visiting Notre Dame cruised to a 73-38 SOC I win over Green.

Libby Welsh led the Titans with 16 points as Notre Dame had 11 people figure in scoring and four were in double digits. Jen Arnzen had 15 points nad 15 rebounds with Madi Phillips and Brooke Pierron each chipping in with 14.

Giulia Elli led all scorers with 21 points in the loss. The Titans are at Raceland (Ky.) in a short turnaround Saturday. The Bobcats are on the road Monday to face South Webster.

Katie Redding’s 15 points and Lexie Gilliland’s 13 led Clay to a 52-30 SOC I win at East.

Redding also pulled down 11 rebounds while Madison Whitley trumped her in that statistical category by one. Jessie Monroe paced the Tartans with a dozen.

The Panthers are at Rock Hill Saturday in a combination event with the boys team. The Tartans welcome South Gallia Monday.

Tori Leader’s 18 points and 10 rebounds puts her 16 shy of 1,000 career rebounds as host West upended Valley 66-55 in Thursday’s SOC II action.

Hannah Cremeans finished with 11 points and Alex Ridout had 10 for the Senators. Lexie Doddridge led the Indians with 19 points and McKenzie Coriell added 15.

West goes to Notre Dame Monday. Valley welcomes Oak Hill Jan. 24.

Four Minford players reached double figures Thursday as the visiting Falcons escaped McDermott with a 60-57 SOC II triumph over Northwest.

Kaylie Berry led Minford with 17 points as she was joined by Gabby Grose (15), Brooklyn Yeley (11) and Carrie Wynn (10). The Mohawks had a game-high 19 point effort from Ashley Riley while K’Lee McGlurg added a dozen.

The Falcons welcome Peebles Saturday afternoon for a nonconference tilt. Northwest hosts Piketon Jan. 23.

A 24-5 opening quarter spelled doom for visiting Waverly Thursday as Oak Hill went on to post a 76-37 SOC II victory.

Leanna Adkins led all scorers with 22 points while Abby Haislop had 15 and Paige Roseberry contributed with 13 in the win. Bri Wiget paced the Tigers with 10 points and Lauren Streitenberger grabbed nine rebounds.

Waverly goes to Clay Monday. The Oaks are on the road Saturday at Alexander.
