Holden’s jumper gives ‘Burg 58-56 OT win

Sydney Holden’s jumper with under two seconds left in overtime gave host Wheelersburg a 58-56 win over Minford to keep the Pirates undefeated in SOC II play.

It was the second time in three days Wheelersburg has needed an extra session to win a game. Brooke Smith, who scored all five of her points in the fourth quarter and overtime, hit two free throws to gie the Pirates a 56-53 lead. Megan Duduit, who finished with nine points, connected on a 3-pointer to make it a 56-56 contest.

Holden led all scorers with 22 points and added nine rebounds. Fay Proehl and Brooklyn Adams each had 10 points with Adams grabbing eight rebounds. Maggie Stegman also had eight boards.

Lexie Doddridge paced the Indians with 18 points. Darby High had 15 points and Bethany Conley finished with a dozen rebounds to go with eight points.

Valley travels Thursday to West. Wheelersburg will host South Webster.

Minford 62, South Webster 57

Four of the six Minford players who cracked the scoring column were in double figures Monday as the host Falcons defeated South Webster 62-57 in SOC II action.

Kylie Berry led Minford with 15 points, Carrie Wynn and Kelsey Conkey pumped in 13 each and Brooklyn Yeley had 10. Kacie Hall and Kaci Messer each had 19 points to lead all scorers in the loss.

The Jeeps travel Thursday to Wheelersburg. The Falcons are at Northwest.
