Tartans get revenge on Jeeps, win 55-50

The second back-to-back weekend of the season was successful for East as the Tartans exacted revenge on South Webster in a 55-50 home win over the Jeeps.

South Webster won last Friday’s encounter 70-41 in the semifinals of the New Boston Holiday Tournament. East’s Justin Crager tied the Jeeps’ Seth Goddard for the high scoring output of the night as both finished with 24. Patrick Bias added 20 in the win while Andrew Salisbury had 10 in the loss.

The Tartans travel Tuesday to Eastern. South Webster goes to Waverly.

Valley 56, Chillicothe Huntington 42

Hayden Dunn’s 14 points and Chris Flowers’ 10 pushed visiting Valley to a 56-42 win over Chillicothe Huntington.

The Indians look to continue its undefeated mark in SOC II play Tuesday night when they travel to Oak Hill.

Emily Widdowson’s 16 points led all scorers Saturday while Katie Redding added 10 as host Clay survived an upset bid by Piketon but prevailed with a 42-40 win.

Kalen Jenkins and Ashlee Lawhorn each had 11 points for the Redstreaks. Piketon retruns home Tuesday to entertain Chillicothe Huntington. The Panthers welcome Western Monday to start the second round of SOC I play.

Mercedes Tackett has proved to be a boost towards the East lineup.

Since her addition to the Tartan roster, she has been a major scoring threat for East. The senior led the Tartans again with 24 points as host East defeated Rock Hill 60-53.

Jessie Monroe had 15 points and Tiffany Craft chipped in with 14 in the win. Brookelyn Newell made all four of her free throws down the stretch during one-and-one situations to seal the win.

The Tartans welcome Symmes Valley Monday.

Fay Proehl recorded a double-double as host Wheelersburg defeated Coal Grove 49-35.

Proehl had 11 points and 12 rebounds to go along with six assists. Sydney Holden led all scorers with 17 points added seven rebounds.

The Pirates welcome Waverly Monday.
