Roger Hobbs, 70
Roger A. Hobbs, 70, of Henry Cooper Rd. Lucasville, Ohio died Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at the SOMC Hospice Center, Portsmouth, Ohio. He was born on Aug. 19, 1942, in Lewis County, Ky., to the late James Arthur Hobbs, Sr. and Daisy Frances Hamlin Hobbs.
He was united in marriage on June 9, 1962 to Judy Kay McClary Hobbs who preceded him in death on Sept. 5, 2011.
Surviving are two sons: Roger Hobbs, Jr. and wife Sonya and Richard Hobbs and wife Julie both of Lucasville, two daughters: Beverly Blevins and husband Ronnie of Lucasville, and Crystal Hobbs of Groveport, OH. Ten grandchildren: Shawn, and Vanessa Hobbs, Jeffrey and Chad Mosley, Ronda Blevins, Cassandra Nelson, Rick Howard, Heather Snyder, Jason Hobbs, and Andru Svoboda. Eight Great Grandchildren: Timothy Nelson, McKenzie Cox, Chloe and Emma Nelson, Luke and Abby Mosley, and Hayden and Leland Snyder. Three very special friends: Allen, Karla, and Beth McClary. Six brothers: Donald (Carolyn) Hobbs, Larry (Mary) Hobbs, David Hobbs, William (Leta) Hobbs, and Randy (Nannette) Hobbs all of Lucasville, and Ronald Hobbs of Portsmouth. Three sisters: Barbara Stevens, and Linda (James) Throckmorton both of Lucasville, and Nancy Zickgraf of Hillsboro, OH. He was preceded in death by two brothers: James Hobbs, Jr., and Michael Ray Hobbs, and one sister, Carol Ramsey.
Mr. Hobbs was retired from the maintenance crew with Conrail Railroad after 30 years of service, and was an avid outdoorsman where he spent much of his spare time hunting and fishing.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at the McCullough Baptist Church with Rev. Robert L. Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Cooper Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Botkin Funeral Home in Otway and Thursday from noon to 1 p.m. at the church.
