‘Burg’s takes 41-33 win over Minford, Pirates atop SOC II

In a game between unbeatens, the secondary scoring options are the difference.

In Monday’s action, Wheelersburg’s Sydney Holden and Brooklyn Adams answered the bell. The duo each scored a team-high 11 points as the host Pirates defeated Minford 41-33 to become the last SOC II team to remain unbeaten.

Despite being held to five points, Fay Proehl grabbed 10 rebounds while Maggie Stegman chipped in with eight points and nine rebounds. Kelsey Conkey (12 points) and Carrie Wynn (10) led the Falcons.

Wheelersburg will face yet another challenge Thursday in a road contest with Oak Hill. Minford travels Wednesday to Jackson before returning home Thursday to entertain West.

Oak Hill 59, Valley 48

Four players were in double figures as host Oak Hill defeated Valley 59-48 in Monday’s SOC II contest.

Paige Roseberry led the Oaks with 15 points. She was joined by Kayla Swann (14), Abby Haislop (11) and Alex Kuhn (10).

The Indians were paced by Lexie Doddridge, who chalked up 15 points.

Oak Hill welcomes Wheelersburg Thursday in a game that has first place implications. Valley’s road trip continues Thursday to South Webster.

South Webster 47, Waverly 20

Visiting South Webster entered the second quarter of Monday’s contest against Waverly with a 21-0 lead and cruised to a 47-20 SOC II game.

Mariah Sullivan’s 12 points was the game’s high scorer while teammate Kaci Messer added 10. Three Tigers led the team with with four points each.

The Jeeps entertain Valley Thursday. Waverly gets a visit from Northwest in a search for the first conference win for both teams.

Because of an error, the box score will be published at a later date.

West 53, Northwest 47

Tori Leader’s 29 points paced host West to a 53-47 home win over SOC II foe Northwest.

Taylor Conley added 10 points in the victory. Darbie Jenkins and K’Lee McGlurg each had 11 points for the Mohawks.

The Senators have a Wednesday night home date with Manchester before going on the road Thursday to Minford. Northwest will look for its first SOC II win Thursday at Waverly.

Katie Redding’s double-double along with Emily Widdowson’s game-high 20 points gave visiting Clay its fourth win of the season with a 53-29 SOC I road victory over Green.

Redding finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds on the night. Giulia Elli had 10 points in the loss.

The Panthers have a road test Thursday at Notre Dame with a chance at a share of the SOC I at stake. The Bobcats travel to Eastern.

Host Eastern doubled up East 60-30 Monday night, thanks to three players in double figures led by Carson Roney’s 17 points.

Brittany Mounts and Chandler Brown each had 10 points for the Eagles. Brooklyn Meadows’ 11 points led the Tartans.

Eastern welcomes Green Thursday. East returns home Thursday to face New Boston.

Symmes Valley’s Kalli Hunt scored a game-high 21 points to give the visting Vikings a 52-35 win over SOC I opponent New Boston.

Kaitlyn Payne added 13 points in the win. Kiersten McGraw’s 17 points was the most for the Tigers.

Symmes Valley faces SOC I surprise Western in Thursday’s game. New Boston goes to East.
