Hill View Retirement Center dedicated its new activity center on Wednesday, Dec. 5, during a ceremony to the late Fr. William Patterson.
“Today we are honoring a Roman Catholic Priest, whose life on this earth left an enormous witness for the Lord. Not just for his own congregants, but to a whole area who needed to experience the touch of Christ; that was Father Patterson. It seems so appropriate today that we honor him,” said Rev. Richard North of Hill View.
“When we think of our new activity area we will think of Father William Patterson. A man who gave so much to so many. His name, I believe, will be remembered for generations for his love and service to the Lord, the one who called him into a life of great personal sacrifice. It is with great gratitude in our hearts we dedicate this new center to the glory of God and in honor of a humble servant who served the lord and us so well.”
John Prose, CEO of Hill View, said the new space, located on the third floor of the Rotunda Building, will be multipurpose. He said there was activity space at the facility already, but was not as adequate as the new space.
“This space is setup for residents of our nursing home, it’s an activity area for them where they can do daily structured activities. They can also hold special activities if they want to do a special program with their family. We also have a special kitchen setup for this space,” Prose said.
Prose said dedicating the space in Patterson’s name was an easy decision because of the impression he made on the community.
“Father Patterson was a resident of Hill View. The was here in his last couple years of life and wanted to see us develop a space to do things. So, it was an easy decision to dedicate this space in his name,” Prose said.
