Minford’s McCray earns Div. IV First Team honors

The Associated Press released the annual Division IV All-Ohio football list and a number of area athletes filled the ranks.

In Scioto County, the most decorated player was Minford junior Jared McCray. The 6-6, 310-pound lineman was named to the Div. IV First Team offense after a season that saw the Falcons finish 8-3.

From Lawrence County, Senior Ironton defensive lineman Aaron Stephens earned a spot on the Div. IV First Team defense. Stephens’ teammate Patrick Lewis, a 5-10, 175-pound running back, was named to the Second Team offense in Div. IV. The Fighting Tigers finished 7-4 in 2012.

Also a Second Team performer was Piketon quarterback Isaac Brabson who led a very productive Redstreaks offense to a 9-3 finish.

Brabson saw numerous teammates earn Special Mention including Colten Williams, Evan Ferguson, Aaron Ward, Jeremy Farmer and Chaz Bowman.

Minford also had a number of players garner Special Mention honors. Zach Farrar joined teammates Sean Berry, Austin Carter and Austin Thompson as Div. IV Special Mention performers.

Ironton sent Adam Webb, Trevor White and Maurice Phillips to the Special Mention team.

Portsmouth’s lone representative on the Div. IV Special Mention list was Johnie Charles and Waverly also saw one player earn a spot on Special Mention in Willie Bevens.

The Division V and Division VI All-Ohio list will be released Wednesday evening.
