Rose Bridwell, 96

Florence Rose Bridwell, 96 of Friendship died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at Hillview Health Care Center. She was born Feb. 22, 1916, in Jackson Ohio to the late William G. and Clara Pearl Malone Callahan.

A beloved community member, local historian, and faithful servant of the Lord, she loved her family, her many friends, and Friendship United Methodist church family members. Rose and her husband Noel were married 74 years and operated Bridwell’s General Store in Friendship, Ohio, before retiring in 1963. Rose dedicated her life to helping others, and throughout her long life she served the community by volunteering her time at Southern Ohio Medical Center, FRIENDS Scioto Guild, and was a past Eastern Star Matron of Honor, former Republican Club president, and Soroptomist Club member. Along with her parents Rose was preceded in death by her husband Noel Bridwell, a son Roger Bridwell and two sisters; Mary Grace Stevens and Sarah Callihan.

Rose is survived by a daughter-in-law and husband, Sandra and Perry Hall of Friendship, a grandson, Todd Bridwell and a granddaughter Gina Collinsworth and her husband Larry all of Friendship, two great grandchildren; Morgan Bridwell and Mason Bridwell.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Reverend Matthew Brookes officiating and interment in Friendship Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday starting at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to SOMC Hospice in Rose’s name.
