Sophomore Lexie Doddridge scored 13 of her game-high 19 points in the fourth quarter as Valley opened its season with a 61-57 win over Sardinia Eastern in the second day of the Paint Valley Classic.

Doddridge accounted for all but seven of the Indians points in the final stanza. She was one of three Valley players to reach double figures.

Despite not cracking the scoring column, Darby High accounted for six assists and four steals. The Indians travel Monday to Minford to start SOC II play.

South Webster 44, Peebles 38

Kaci Messer scored 20 of her game-high 22 points in the second half, including five 3-pointers as South Webster erased at 10-point halftime deficit to post a 44-38 win over Peebles in the Paint Valley Classic.

Kacie Hall, who held Indians guard Sidney Pell to nine points, added 14 points for the Jeeps. South Webster opens up its home and SOC II portion of the schedule Monday when Northwest comes into town. Haley Potters had five points and four rebounds in the win.
