Jesse Anderson, 84

Jesse Roger Anderson, 84, of New Boston embraced the loving arms of Jesus on Nov. 20, 2012, at SOMC Hospice. Jesse was born in Fullerton, Ky. on Sept. 24, 1928, the son of Virginia and Guy Anderson. He grew up in the Portsmouth area with his brothers Tracy and Charles and sister Barbara.

Jesse was a veteran of the Army Air Force in World War II. He became a devoted Christian and earnestly passed these beliefs on to his family and friends. Jesse was a child of the Great Depression years and learned ‘to make do’ with very little. While visiting with his grandmother in Kentucky, he lost the nickel she had given him for the ferry ride back to Ohio. He found a log which he used to help him get back across the river.

He carried that same pragmatic sensibility coupled with a wonderful sense of humor, throughout his life. Jesse is survived by six children Michael, Donald, Patricia Sue, Roger Paul, Rhonda and Brenda,

12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. One grandchild preceded him in death.

His belief in God and love for his family was always apparent.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2012 at MELCHER FUNERAL HOME

Our hearts are filled with sorrow, so many tears cried, but knowing he's with our Father in Heaven makes our grief easier to bare. We love you, and miss you.

Until we meet again.
