Donald Sparks, 66
Donald M. (“Donnie”) Sparks, 66, passed away Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth.
Donnie was born Jan. 26, 1946, in Hazard, Ky., to the late Charles and Mildred Irene (Diamond) Sparks, and grew-up in Firebrick, Ky. He was a people-pleaser and never met a stranger. He spent the last three years in Horizon House in Portsmouth, and he was loved by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Harry (Hank) Sparks and Gary Dean Sparks. Also by his lifelong companion Lindy Blevins of 35 years and they resided in Buena Vista.
He is survived by two daughters, Carol (Steve) Oiler of Portsmouth, and Lisa (Darren) Oliver of Rosemount, four grandchildren Heather Oiler, Josh Oiler, Drew (Megan) Oliver and Caitlynn Oliver. Three great-grandchildren, Brayden, Mason, and Cayden. He is survived by five sisters Gladys Roe, Ethel Lyons, Rosie Brown (Darryl), Donna Truman (Ron), Debbie Pope (Keith), three brothers Charles Sparks, Dock M. Sparks, and Bob Sparks (Barbara), sister-in-law Kathy Sparks, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation services will be Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, Ky., with funeral services Friday, Nov. 16, 2o12, at 1 p.m., with longtime friend Rev. Keith Webb officiating and burial following at Firebrick Cemetery.
