Area volleyball players earn State honors

Several volleyball players from the area were named to the All-Ohio Volleyball list by the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association.

Chandler Brown and Rhyanna Day of Eastern, who will be playing in Friday’s Division IV State Tournament’s Final Four, both earned Honorable Mention.

Brown, a 5-7 senior who plays outside hitter while Day, also a senior, is a 5-9 libero for the Eagles.

In Division III, Ironton’s Saige Fields garnered Honorable Mention attention as a 5-6 junior outside hitter for the Fighting Tigers.

Ironton reached the sectional finals before bowing out in three sets to Nelsonville-York.

Waverly senior Kala Hall of Waverly earned Honorable Mention status in Division II as a 5-6 setter.

Waverly reached a Southeast District Final in Division II but fell to Lancaster Fairfield Union in four sets.
