A number of races in Tuesday’s election were unofficially determined by a small margin of votes. On Wednesday, Ohio Secretary of State John Husted issued a supplemental election report that outlines voter turnout and outstanding absentee and provisional ballots yet to be counted by county.

In Scioto County, the report states there are 47,513 registered voters with 30,812 of them casting votes for this election — 64.85 percent voter turnout.

The report also states there are 454 outstanding absentee ballots left to be counted and 1,050 outstanding provisional ballots left to be counted. If you do the math, that’s 1,504 ballots left to be counted in Scioto County.

In the race for Scioto County Commissioner, 304 votes separate Doug Coleman and Tom Reiser, and there are 159 votes that separate Mike Crabtree and Donny Rachford.

Provisionals could also the alter the outcome of these and a number of local issues including the Green School Levy. However, it is known how many provisional ballots exist in each precinct and there many not be enough in any one precinct to alter the outcome.

The Scioto County Board of Elections is expected to meet on Nov. 19th at 10 a.m. to count the remaining ballots and certify the results of the election.
