A Kentucky man with history of running from police tried it again Wednesday night, only this time he struck an officer with his vehicle.

According to the Greenup County (Ky.) Sheriff’s Department, Deputy Ryan Houston attempted to stop a 1998 Chevrolet pickup truck, operated by Bradley Cordle, 32, of Flatwoods, Ky., at 10:56 p.m. on Wednesday. As the deputy approached, Cordle struck him with his vehicle and then drove away.

Cordle was later located by Greenup Police Department Officer Rick Gullett, who attempted to stop the vehicle. Cordle refused to stop and led the officer in chase on Kentucky Route 2, until Cordle lost control of his vehicle and struck a utility pole. He was taken into custody without further incident and charged with multiple felony criminal charges. Cordle also had existing warrants for his arrest from the Greenup Circuit Court for being a persistent felony offender and unrelated incidents of fleeing or evading police.

Houston was transported to Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital where he was admitted with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

Greenup County Sheriff Keith Cooper could not be reached for further details. The case remains under investigating by Kentucky State Police.
