Marjorie Rhoads, 89

Marjorie L. Rhoads, age 89, of West Union, Ohio and Lakeland, Fla., passed away peacefully at her home in West Union on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012. She was born Feb. 14, 1923, in Ross County, Ohio, a daughter of the late Elmer and Alpha Yoakum Dotson. On July 25, 1940, she was united in marriage to Rev. J. Lawrence Rhoads who preceded her in death Oct. 16, 2003. She is survived by one son, James D. Rhoads of Lakeland, Fla., two daughters, Barbara L. Irwin of West Union, Ohio, and Lisa D. Rhoads and Mike Towner of Fayetteville, Ohio, two grandchildren, Darrin D. Hirn and Shandra N. Irwin and husband Eric, five great grandchildren, Haley Hirn, Maleah Hirn, Kynnedi Hirn, Brayleigh Irwin, and Easton Irwin, one sister, Audrey Washburn of East Monroe, Ohio and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by one son, Larry E. Rhoads, three brothers, Charley, Norman, and Adolph, and three sisters, Adaline, Naomi, and Bea. Marjorie was a member of Storms Chapel Christian Union Church, and was active in many community and church activities with her husband of sixty-three years, in the various communities they served.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at the West Union Christian Union Church with Rev. Brian Justice, Rev. Lee Dettwiller, and Rev. Sammie Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Township Cemetery in Ross County. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Saturday and one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the West Union Christian Union Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity. Arrangements are under the direction of the Botkin Funeral Home in Otway.
