Host Northwest picked up a big night from the trio of its seniors to outlast Wheelersburg in five sets in Thursday’s SOC II finale.

Senior Mandi Kidder recorded 30 digs, classmate Meagan Lynn finished with 28 assists and junior Kayln Mitchell’s 18 points were enough to lead the Mohawks (14-8, 8-6). Senior Melanie Smalley added 17 digs.

Northwest hosts West in a Division III Southeast Sectional Semifinal next week.

Chillicothe def. Portsmouth 25-15, 25-18, 25-11

Tyarra Barnes’ six kills led visiting Portsmouth Thursday but the Trojans fell in three sets at Chillicothe Thursday.

Portsmouth travels next week to Piketon in a Division III Southeast Sectional Semifinal.
