PDT Sports Report

Despite a tough second set, host Wheelersburg took care of SOC II foe Valley in straight sets Thursday.

Fay Proehl recorded 15 kills and nine digs while Brooklyn Adams added 10 kills to lead the Pirates (8-5, 7-3). Wheelersburg hosts a tri-match Saturday with Unioto and Washington Court House.

The Indians travel Tuesday to West.

Notre Dame def. New Boston 25-19, 25-9, 25-15

Host Notre Dame improved its record to 14-3 on the season and 9-3 in conference play with a three-set sweep of SOC I foe New Boston.

Brooke Pierron and Olivia Nelson each had 10 kills while Nelson also added nine blocks and Raigan Sammons finished with 11 assists. The Titans travel Tuesday to Green and the Tigers travel Saturday to the Manchester Kissick Klassik.

South Webster 7, New Boston 2

Five second half goals were the difference as host South Webster defeated New Boston 5-2 in SOC I action.

Seth Goddard’s goal in the second half was the game winner and Denver Fuller recorded a hat trick for the Jeeps. Brendan Herrforth stopped seven shots for the Tigers and Lance Swords turned away six for South Webster.

The Jeeps return home Tuesday to host Valley. New Boston plays next Thursday at Eastern.

Wheelersburg finished second with a team score of 229 and Western’s Chandler Grooms shot an 84 to advance to next week’s district tournament.

Coal Grove finished first, shooting a team score of 225. The Hornets’ Brent Morgan was the match medalist, shooting a 74.

Locally, Clay was sixth with a team score of 372, Eastern was seventh with a 376, Western’s 377 was good enough for eighth and Valley rounded out the local scores in 13th with a 510. District play is Tuesday at Cumberland Trails Golf Course in Pataskala.
