Virginia Brown, 79

Virginia Leona Brown, 79, of Portsmouth, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She was born on July 28, 1933, in Warren County, Ohio, to the late Warfield and Samira Lanehart Powell.

She was united in marriage on July 16, 1959, to Francis Earl Brown who preceded her in death on June 4, 1991. Surviving are a son, Joseph Altman of Portsmouth, grandchildren: Steven Ray, Kevin Lee, Robyn Lynn, and Michael Seals, great grandchildren, McKenzie and Caleb Seals, one brother, Calvin (Pat) Powell of Bucyrus, and a sister, Jesse (Donald) Myers of West Portsmouth.

She was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Seals, three brothers: Harry and Stanley Powell, and two sisters: Lucy and Talma.

She was a member of the South Webster Baptist Church, and was a certified Nursing Assistant for 38 years.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday in the Garvin Cemetery with Pastor Kenneth Estep officiating. Calling hours will not be observed. Arrangements are under the direction of Botkin Funeral Home in Otway.
