Phyllis Laber, 73

Phyllis Joye Laber, 73, of Portsmouth, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, at Hillview Retirement Center. Born Feb. 28, 1939, in Carter County, Ky., a daughter of the late Chester and Eva Tackett Sparks, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Jacob Laber; four sons, Jerry Sparks of Louisa, Ky., Kevin Sparks of Grayson, Ky., Phillip Laber of Wheelersburg, Jacob Eugene Laber of Minford; one daughter, Marjorie Alley of Lucasville; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Arbuta Rousseau, Anna Sparks, and one brother, Brady Sparks.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Charles Laber and a brother, Douglas Sparks.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace. Friends may call at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday. Online condolences may be sent to www.edafh.com.
