Malcolm Roe, 88
Former businessman, Mr. Malcolm Roe, age 88, of Camp Dix, Ky., went home to be with the Lord Sunday evening, Sept. 2, 2012, in St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
He was born Aug. 16, 1924, in Lewis County, a son of the late George Herbert and Nellie Liles Roe.
Malcolm was a member of the Blankenship Christian Holiness Church where he had served as Sunday School teacher, Sunday School superintendent, and an Elder. He had been a member of The Gideons International since 1986 where he and his wife met many life long friends while serving the Lord. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Force during World War II. Malcolm and Mary June were the former owners and operators of Roe Grocery in Camp Dix. He also ran Roe Equipment for 18 years and was a former Globe Funeral Chapel Associate. He enjoyed going to church and spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one great grandson, Robert Sullivan III; two brothers, Archie Roe and Arlin F. Roe; and two sisters, Jeanetta Roe and Mescal Roe.
Malcolm is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary June Taylor Roe; three sons and daughters-in-law, Malcolm Wayne and Jo Roe of Troy, Ill., Robert Mitchell and Shirley Roe of Emerson, Ky., and John Martin and Karen Roe of Camp Dix, Ky.; one daughter, Mary Aileen Roe of Merrimac, Mass.; a niece whom they raised, Amanda Ann Roe Lang and her husband, Tom, of Augusta, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; and 27 great grandchildren. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel in Camp Dix with Brother Jack Hinton and Brother James DeAtley officiating. Burial will follow in the Lewis County Memory Gardens in Vanceburg with full military honors conducted by the Monte Lewis Stamm VFW Post No. 5438.
Friends may visit from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, and until the service hour on Thursday at Globe Family Funeral Chapel in Camp Dix, 7975 Lower Kinney Road, Vanceburg, Ky. 41179.
Jeff Brown, Nick Adams, Terry Roe, Shane Roe, Adam Roe, Jarod Roe, and Drew Roe will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be his Gideon friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Gideons International.
