John Howard, 60

John Everett Howard, 60, of Lucasville, passed away Friday, Aug. 31, 2012 at Southern Ohio Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 19, 1951 in Portsmouth, a son of the late Henry and Imogene Mullins Howard.

John was retired US Navy Sr. Chief Petty Officer, a retired Radiation Protection Manager for United States Enrichment Corporation, and currently held the same position for Fluor-Babcock-Wilcox in Piketon. He was a 1970 Valley High School graduate and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from Shawnee State University in 2000. His favorite hobby was drag racing. John was the president and co-founder of the Chelsey-Tracy Fan Club.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Ann Scott Howard who he married Jan. 15, 1970 in Vanceburg, Ky.; one daughter Renee Howard of Lucasville; one son Justin (Brittany) Howard of Decatur, Illinois; two granddaughters Chelsey Oakley and Tracy Lewis; one brother Lowell (Debbie) Howard of Lucasville; one sister Linda Howard Scott of Lucasville; sister-in-law Barbara Howard of Lucasville; and grand-dog Allegra.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Gary Howard.

A celebration of life led by Tim Taulbee, family, and friends will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012 at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville. Burial will follow in Lucasville Cemetery where graveside military rites will be performed by the William A. Baker and James Irwin Posts of the American Legion. Friends may call 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 10:00 to 11:00 Wednesday at the funeral home.
