A semi-tractor tailer rig and a motorcycle collided Wednesday on U.S. 52, three-tenths of a mile from mile post 10 at around 3:45 p.m.

The semi driver was identified as Evan Wheaton, 41, of Bainbridge, Ohio, while the Ohio State Highway Patrol says Douglas Bell, 49, of West Portsmouth was on the motorcycle. A spokesman for the Portsmouth Post of the OSHP said Wheaton’s truck was traveling west on U.S. 52, when while pulling into a private drive, he swung wide, and was struck in the front end by Bell’s motorcycle which was also traveling west on U.S. 52.

Bell was transported by helicopter to Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va., where he was listed in good condition Thursday afternoon.
