Jerry Bentley, 71
Mr. Jerry Dean Bentley, age 71, lifelong resident of Garrison, Ky., passed away Wednesday morning, Aug. 29, 2012, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 2, 1940, in Lewis County, Ky., a son of the late John Calvin and Opal Elizabeth Rowe Bentley.
Dean attended the Christ Open Bible Church and formerly owned and operated the Bentley Lumber Companies in Garrison and Tollesboro. He was a lifelong carpenter in the community and built numerous businesses and homes in the surrounding areas. He and his wife, Joyce, had built and owned Dean’s Steak and Spaghetti House and the Pit Stop Pizza in Garrison before retiring. Dean will be sadly missed by the Garrison Comunity and all of his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Delores Kay Bentley; one great grandson, Landon James Blevins; and three sisters, Donna Kay Johnson, Sharon Gail Bentley, and Fredia Carol Reeder.
Dean is survived by his wife of 16 years, Joyce Boyd Bentley; one son, Jerry Tom Bentley of Garrison; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kathy and Dan Fannin, Lorie Blevins, and Tina and Pokey Blevins, all of West Union, Ohio; one stepson and his wife, Michael and Kim Clark of Oak Hill, Ohio; one stepdaughter and her husband, Jodie and Donald Pressley of Portsmouth, Ohio; thirteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; six step grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronnie Lee and Elaine Bentley and John Vent and Debbie Bentley, all of Garrison and Phillip Mitchell and Carla Bentley of Atlanta, Georgia; and three sisters and brothers-in-law, Bonnie Sue and Jake Keen, Connie Lou and Russell Barnett, and Charlotte Yvonne and Donnie Nolen, all of Garrison.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel in Garrison with Brother Roger Erwin and Sister Wilma Erwin officiating. Burial will follow in the Soldier Cemetery in Garrison.
Friends may visit from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, and until the service hour on Saturday at Globe Family Funeral Chapel, 103 Dudley Avenue, Garrison, Ky. 41141.
Phillip Bentley, John Vent Bentley, Jerry Tom Bentley, Anthony Blevins, T. J. Blevins, Wyatt Blevins, Bryan Blevins, Adam Fannin, and Eric Fannin will serve as pallbearers.
