The arrest of two people may have solved a recent crime spree. Joshua Pyles, 31, of Millbrook Avenue in New Boston, has been charged with four counts of theft, a felony of the fifth degree, and 10 counts of theft a misdemeanor of the 1st degree. Also arrested was Dustin Fletcher, 23 of Sciotoville, also charged with four counts of theft, a felony of the fifth degree, and 10 counts of theft, a misdemeanor of the first degree.
Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini said detectives from the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office have been actively working several cases involving vehicles getting broken into which started after entries were made to vehicles on Simon Miller Road. Donini said it appears the Wheelersburg area was targeted for the thefts.
Donini said his office has recovered several stolen GPS units and cell phones that were traced back to several victim’s. Detectives were also able to track stolen credit cards and come up with the possible suspects. On Monday both suspects were interviewed and admitted to breaking into several vehicles in the county to include the Wheelersburg area, Ashley corner and the Rosemount area. Donini said the two suspects also admitted to breaking into multiple vehicles in New Boston and areas of Portsmouth. Donini said his detectives have forwarded the information to those departments for charges.
Both subjects will appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court this morning, and Both are being held on a $69,000 bond.
Donini said it is an ongoing investigation and more charges could follow. He said if anybody has any information about the case they should contact Det. Jodi Conkel at 740- 351-1091. He said all calls will remain anonymous.
